Applied Physics and Technology Division
The aim of the Applied Physics and Technology Division (APTD) is to provide a focus for promoting a range of physics based activities that are of relevance in an industrial context.
The Division supports its member groups by encouraging and coordinating interaction between them.
Division activities include:
- promotion of multidisciplinary research through sponsorship of multi-group seminars and workshops
- a biennial conference on a leading-edge research topic that is of relevance to each of the groups in APTD
- an industry-relevant exhibition of the latest equipment
- open forum networking discussions at the conference that promote potential joint research programmes
- annual student prizes available to all groups in APTD
- liaison with the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications, the British Vacuum Council, the UK Surface Analysis Users’ Forum, the Analytical Science Forum, PISE-UK (Plasma and Ion-surface Engineering), and some BSI and ISO committees
