International

Physics is an international endeavour and the Institute aims to promote and support physics in furthering scientific knowledge and providing economic and social benefits in the UK and Ireland, and internationally – especially in the developing world.

The Institute is a member of several international societies and is actively involved in several more. The Institute has close relations with other physical societies across the globe. The Institute works with them to strengthen the role of physical societies generally.

The Institute is a member of The European Physical Society, providing significant funding, and has active involvement in The International Union of Pure and Applied Physics. The aim is not just to represent British and Irish physicists through these organisations, but also to help the international organisations work effectively for the benefit of physics and physicists worldwide.
