Business and Innovation Board

The Board advises Council on Institute policy concerning physics and physicists in industry and business, including promoting their role, maintains awareness of the external business and industry environment and proposes a balanced range of Institute activities in support of physics and physics-based innovation in industry and business.

The Business and Innovation Board is delegated the following responsibilities and powers by the Council of the Institute.

  1. To develop the business and innovation strategy – working with other Boards of Council and external parties as appropriate - and the recommendation of strategy within the available resources to Council for their consideration and agreement.
  2. To develop policy in areas directly relevant to business and innovation – working with other Boards of Council and external parties as appropriate – and the recommendation of policy to Council for their consideration and agreement.
  3. To advise on the Business and Innovation Programme of Activities to achieve the goals and strategy agreed by Council, working with other Boards of the Council and external parties as appropriate.
  4. To report to Council on the progress of the Business and Innovation Programme in delivering on the Strategy.
  5. To advise on activities designed to promote diversity and inclusion within physics at all levels, working with other Boards of Council as appropriate.
  6. Any other specific delegated powers agreed by Council.
