Benevolent Fund Committee
The Benevolent Fund is a legal entity separate from the Institute and it is a registered charity. The trustees of the Benevolent Fund are the Members of Council of the Institute of Physics for the time being.
The Benevolent Fund Committee is appointed by Council to administer the Fund. Its delegated powers include determination of the grants and loans made by the Fund and the review, from time to time, of the rules and criteria for eligibility. The financial affairs of the Fund, including monitoring investment performance and the approval of the annual accounts are the responsibility of Council.
Term of office of the four Council appointed members and the IPEM appointed member is four years, which may be renewed by one further period of four years (i.e. a total of eight consecutive years). The term of office of the chair shall be determined by Council.
A person nominated by the Committee shall be secretary of the committee.
